The Dominion from Imaging3 may dramatically improve cardiac patient care in several areas with its ability to produce 3-D images in real time.
Angiography is one area that could reap the benefits of the Dominions offerings. With the Dominion's 3D capability, the direction from which the artery is viewed can be changed, which allows the doctor to see it the progression through the artery has been blocked by plaque build-up, or if the artery has simply turned in a direction that limited, lower resolution, 2D imaging does not allow him to see.
In the case of an intervention, Dominion’s technology will allow the interventionalist to place a stent or catheter more easily because of the clearer view.
Dean Janes, Imaging3's CEO, commented on the versatility of the company's product. "The Dominion's role is not limited to cardiac surgery alone and plays a role in almost all surgical procedures. The Dominion represents a technological leap forward for operating rooms generally and surgical procedures specifically."
