March 24, 2009 - Frost & Sullivan has awarded GE Healthcare with the 2009 Growth Strategy Leadership of the Year Award in Medical Imaging.

The award is based upon Frost & Sullivan’s recent analysis of the medical imaging market segment, which recognizes the growth path that GE embarked upon following its acquisition of Dynamic Imaging (DI) in October 2007.

“GE Healthcare is uniquely positioned in the marketplace with one of the leading edge RIS/PACS technologies and a collaborative, internal synergy within the Centricity group that continues to strengthen GE’s position in North America and abroad,” said Nadim Daher, senior industry analyst for Frost & Sullivan. “The multifaceted growth strategy that GE has put into effect capitalized on the strategic DI acquisition and revitalized the company’s imaging informatics business in a mature market segment.”

Throughout 2008, the newly re-branded Centricity PACS-IW from the Dynamic Imaging Solutions division helped GE develop new market segment opportunities, specifically in physician offices for Web-based PACS, and Web-based RIS/PACS for hospitals (Centricity Radiology-IW) and outpatient imaging centers (Centricity RIS/PACS-IW). This was followed by the release of Centricity PACS–IW worldwide based on English, and as of RSNA 2008 support for four additional languages – French, German, Italian and Japanese. Frost & Sullivan also noted the launch of Centricity PACS Web Diagnostic (“Web DX”) at RSNA 2008 as a significant milestone that demonstrates GE’s commitment to integrating Dynamic Imaging’s Web technology into the existing Centricity portfolio Frost & Sullivan’s Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global market segments for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance.

The Growth Strategy Leadership award is presented each year to a company that exhibits an exceptional growth strategy within the industry.
