January 27, 2012 — Carestream Health will be showing several new technologies at the 2012 meeting of the Healthcare Informatics Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

Carestream’s new, expanded portfolio of cloud picture archive and communication system (PACS)/archiving/image-sharing services with:

— New portals for referring physicians and patients. The referring physician portal is scheduled to be available by the end of March. The patient portal is a work in progress and is not commercially available.

— Use of Intel’s Xeon E7 processors to boost performance and deliver hardware-accelerated encryption for greater security.

— Mobile access to data with its Vue Motion zero footprint viewer. Vue Motion is easy to deploy and supports rapid data access on devices like iPads, ideal for communicating radiology information to physicians on the go.

Cloud services deliver high-performance applications on a pay-per-use basis without requiring a large capital investment. By eliminating equipment maintenance, management and technology upgrades, healthcare providers can achieve an overall cost reduction of up to 30 percent.
