ABII has announced a new option for candidates to take the Imaging Informatics Professional exam.

ABII Introduces Online Proctored Exam

April 21, 2025 – The American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII) has announced a new option for candidates to take the Imaging Informatics Professional (IIP) exam and earn their Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) certification.

Candidates can still take the exam at a Pearson VUE testing location, but ABII's new online proctored exam allows them to choose the setting that provides the best testing experience for them. Designed to meet the evolving needs of individuals in the imaging informatics field, the online proctored exam removes barriers for individuals who have demanding schedules or live a long distance from a brick-and-mortar test center.

Key Benefits of the Online Proctored Exam:

  • Increased Flexibility: The ability to schedule the exam at a convenient time allows candidates to balance their professional and personal commitments.
  • Convenience: Taking the exam in a familiar environment reduces stress and enables candidates to focus better on the test.
  • Security: The online proctored exam uses advanced technology to ensure the same level of integrity as traditional in-person exams.
  • Cost Savings: The exam cost remains the same whether taken at a test center or online but opting for the online proctored option eliminates travel expenses and reduces time away from work.

Kevin Lawrence, Director of ABII, emphasized the significance of this new offering: "We are thrilled to introduce the online proctored exam as part of our commitment to making certification more accessible for all candidates. This new option not only maintains the high standards of our certification process but also provides a flexible solution that meets the needs of today's busy professionals."
