Ultrasound imaging can identify the sex of the baby by imaging the groin area. The penis on the male fetus appears as what is commonly called the "turtle" sign, which resembles like a turtle poking its head out of its shell. This image shows a female fetus with the "hamburger" sign created by the labia of the vagina. Katherine Fornell. How to tell the sex of a fetus, baby, on ultrasound.

Image of blood flow in the fetal abdomen. It shows the heart (large colored mass to the left) and the main arteries of the body connected to blood flow from the mother via the umbilical cord (right side of image). Fetal ultrasound image software includes digital calipers sonographers use to measure between two points. There are a series of standard measurements taken that are used to determine the age of the fetus and estimate the date of birth. Most newer ultrasound systems automate this feature once the measuring points are determined by the sonographer, as seen in this example of on a Philips system. Vivian Fornell. Building on prior success combining Cyclin-Dependent Kinase (CDK) inhibitors with hormone therapy to treat breast cancer, researchers are now exploring the potential integration of CDK inhibitors with radiotherapy

Schematic overview of cell cycle regulation, with an emphasis on radiotherapy-induced pathways and CDK/cyclin regulation. In M phase and in G2 resting phase, cancer cells are respectively very sensitive and moderately sensitive to radiation injury, whereas in G1 phase and in S phase, cancer cells are moderately resistant to radiation injury. Irradiation induces G1 and G2 cell cycle checkpoint activation and DNA repair. Most cancer cells are defective in G1 checkpoint, commonly due to the mutations/alterations of the key regulators of the G1 checkpoint, but contain a functional G2 checkpoint.
