The company .decimal at ASTRO showed a 3-D printing technology where radiation therapy (RT) bolus shields can be printed on demand, tailor made to fit a patient. This one is being printed at the expo and is for breast cancer RT. The company also makes customized machined plastic bolus, but offers the printing option for centers that have their own 3-D printers. A bolus is used to allow higher intensity radiation doses to be used in RT.
