Konica Minolta Medical Imaging USA Inc.' s Regius 110 Nano CR uses a rigid-plate design to extend the life of the phosphors by nearly double. Konica Minolta guarantees unlimited use of the phosphor cassettes for two years, compared to the typical industry standard of one year.

Eastman Kodak Co. has released the In-Vivo Multispectral imaging system, designed to assist in advanced research applications. The system is capable of identifying molecular abnormalities that are the origin of disease at a very early stage.

Eastman Kodak's DirectView DR 9500 features a ceiling-mounted U-arm that contains both a tube and detector for increased mobility and operational flexibility. It allows technologists to capture images of the left and right side of the body without moving the patient.

Royal Philips Electronics announced it has received 510(k) clearance and is now shipping two new adult reusable SpO2 pulse oximetry sensors for monitoring oxygen saturation. The new clip- and glove-style SpO2 sensors complement Philips’ proven line of reusable and disposable sensors, giving hospitals a choice of sensors to meet their clinical requirements.  

The Medicare drug benefit has come in way under budget this year, which supporters boast is a testament to the benefits of competition. Instead of costing about $43 billion this year, it will cost about $30 billion.

SonoSite Inc. has released the fourth major upgrade to its MicroMaxx portable ultrasound system, the company announced this week during the Radiological Society of North America conference in Chicago. The new MicroMaxx software features a high-frequency transducer and enhancements for secure wireless connectivity.

Current MicroMaxx customers can upgrade existing systems to the new capabilities via compact flash cards. SonoSite plans to begin customer shipments in December.
