November 4, 2021 — The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) today issued an emergency regulation now requiring COVID-19 vaccinations for all eligible staff at healthcare facilities that participate in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. 

CMS has set a deadline of Dec. 5 for healthcare facilities to create a COVID vaccination requirement policy and  a deadline of Jan. 4, 2022 for all staff at these facilities to be fully vaccinated. 



The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared the world's first photon-counting computed tomography (CT) scanner, the Siemens Naeotom Alpha, on Sept. 30. Both FDA and CT experts say this is the start of a revolution in new CT scanner technology, and is the biggest shift in technology for this workhorse radiology modality in years.

The FDA sent out a rare press release on the approval, noting its importance to medical imaging. 


November 3, 2021 — MIM Software Inc. announced it has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for additional automatically segmented contours and local deployment for Contour ProtégéAI, its robust AI auto-contouring solution.

MIM Software has received FDA 510(k) clearance for additional head and neck, thorax, prostate, and abdomen contours. Quality improvements to existing contours have also been implemented. 

November 3, 2021 — Mirion Technologies, Inc., a global provider of detection, measurement, analysis and monitoring solutions to the medical, nuclear, defense, and research end markets, today announced the acquisition of CHP Dosimetry, a U.S.-based distributor of dosimetry services. The acquisition closed on Nov. 1, 2021.
