A locking drawer can be used in conjunction with trays and baskets for medications and syringes. Heavy-duty plate casters , central key-lock and a pullout writing surface are standard. Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corp. has received FDA clearance to market TenoGlide Tendon Protector Sheet in the US. The product is indicated for the management and protection of tendon injuries in which there has been no substantial loss of tendon tissue. It is an advanced tendon protection device, composed of a porous matrix of cross-linked collagen and glycosaminoglycan (GAG). The collagen-GAG resorbable matrix provides a protective, biocompatible interface, which creates a favorable environment and gliding surface for tendon healing.

April 10, 2007 - Tepha Inc. announced that the FDA has cleared its TephaFLEX Absorbable Suture product for marketing in the U.S. The TephaFLEX Absorbable Suture is the first medical device derived from a new class of biopolymers that is the product of patented recombinant DNA technology developed by Tepha and licensed from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The TephaFLEX material has biological and mechanical properties that are uniquely suited for implantable medical devices.

April 10, 2007 - Medical device maker DexCom Inc. is one step closer to gaining reimbursement for its continuous glucose monitoring devices.

The company said the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid issued a positive preliminary decision on Friday for DexCom to develop Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System codes for its devices. The codes describe specific health care items and procedures and are necessary for processing health insurance claims.

However, DexCom must still receive a final decision from CMS following a public meeting on May 1.

April 10, 2007 - Masimo, the inventor of Pulse CO-Oximetry and Read-Through Motion and Low Perfusion pulse oximetry, reported that three new independent studies, including one presented the recent International Anesthesiology Research Society (IARS) Clinical & Scientific Congress in Orlando, concluded that Masimo Acoustic Respiratory Monitoring technology (ARM) is "at least as accurate as capnometry" and "significantly more reliable" for monitoring respiration in spontaneously breathing patients.


As another presidential campaign ramps up to be in full swing by the fall, healthcare promises to be a bellwether issue – a litmus test, if you will – for whomever is chosen to occupy the White House next.
While candidates swirl around several overarching issues, such as universal access and escalating costs, they aren’t really honing in on any of the undercurrent issues fueling the problems being promoted for public consumption.
