October 4, 2007 - Joined by nationally recognized medical providers, health-management device manufacturers and patient advocacy organizations, Microsoft Corp. today launched HealthVault, a software and services platform aimed at helping people better manage their health information.

October 3, 2007 — Siemens Medical Solutions recently announced the launch of the world's smallest and first pocket ultrasound system, the ACUSON P10.
This FDA cleared hand held diagnostic ultrasound system is a little larger than a common PDA, weighs 1.6 pounds, and reportedly fits into a lab coat pocket. It is intended for complementary initial diagnostic care and triage, particularly in cardiology, emergency care and obstetrics.

October 3, 2007 - Spectrum Surgical Instruments Corp. recently introduced reusable instruments made from high-grade, plastic that can be sterilized.
The company says these instruments can be sterilized in an autoclave and are resistant to chemicals and ultrasonic waves. The patterns available include: sponge forceps, towel clamps, stitch scissors, mosquito forceps and kocher forceps.
Spectrum’s plastic instruments are designed to be used for approximately 100 sterilization cycles.

October 3, 2007 - Symx Technologies said Oct. 3 it hopes to increase patient safety in hospitals with RFID by incorporating its Symx ATLAS into Microsoft’s newly launched BizTalk Server 2006 R2.

October 3, 2007 - Newton-Wellesley Hospital said today it is implementing Isabel Healthcare’s decision support system to aid in formulating accurate and timely diagnoses.
Newton-Wellesley is the first Massachusetts hospital to provide its 1,100 physicians access to the Isabel technology system. Dr. Jim Kaplan, a member of the Newton-Wellesley Board of Trustees, brought the Web-based decision support system to the hospital, believing its use at the point of care will help further ensure accurate diagnoses.

October 3, 2007 – Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, PA said it had great success using the HCS Medication Reconciliation service the first night of service recently in its emergency department.
