The company is reorganizing and renaming its operating divisions. Merge Healthcare North America (MHNA) has been renamed Merge Fusion. Cedara, its operating division located in Toronto, Ontario, will be renamed Merge OEM.

June 5, 2008 - NeuroLogica Corp. and its Korean distribution partner, Dong Kang Medical Systems, said the CereTom CT scanner has received clearance from the Korean Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) for medical capital device imaging.

The portable eight-slice CT scanner acquires 1.25-millimeter slices per rotation and is capable of performing NeCT, CT Perfusion, Xenon Perfusion and CT Angiography. According to the company, it is also optimal for use in the emergency room, intensive care unit and operating room because of its portability.

The reportedly fast-acting, high-energy medical isotope has demonstrated strong clinical results and is being heralded as the first leap forward in seed brachytherapy in 20 years.

June 4, 2008 - Scientists in the environmental healthcare unit at the University of Southampton in the U.K. found that infectious bacterium Clostridium difficile is killed when exposed to surfaces made of copper and its alloys, brass and bronze.

The results of the study have been published in the February 2008 issue of the Journal of Hospital Infection.

C. difficile is a leading cause of hospital infection in both the U.K. and the U.S. The spores can live in the environment for a long time and are resistant to a range of disinfectants, including alcohol gel.
