June 11, 2008 – Kryptiq this week said GreenField Health has implemented Microsoft HealthVault Web-based personal health record connectivity using Kryptiq’s Connect IQ Patient Portal and Secure Messaging solutions.

GreenField Health, a nationally recognized consulting group and medical clinic in Portland, OR, is using Connect IQ to enable patients to exchange information between their doctor’s office and their HealthVault account. Kryptiq said this is the first live implementation of connectivity between a clinical practice and Microsoft HealthVault.

June 10, 2008 - Zebra Technologies today introduced the HC100 cartridge-based thermal printer to help make wristband printing easier and more cost-effective for healthcare organizations.

Missing or illegible wristbands are a major contributing factor to many adverse events, Zebra said. By utilizing bar-coded wristbands, hospitals can ensure clinicians have the ability to accurately identify patients before collecting specimens, administering medications or transfusing blood.

June 12, 2008 - Motion Computing said this week Island Hospital in Anacortes, WA implemented the Motion C5 Mobile Clinical Assistant (MCA) to extend the functionality of its MEDITECH Magic Health Care Information System.

With the C5, the hospital is improving several processes, such as nursing documentation, while offering a significant savings and more hygienic solution than the traditional Computers on Wheels (COWs). The addition of the C5 is the latest step in Island Hospital’s initiative to improve patient care through technological upgrades at the point of care.

June 11, 2008 - Varian Medical Systems entered into a three-year, $320 million contract for Varian to supply medical imaging subcomponents to Toshiba for integration into diagnostic imaging equipment for the global market.

Varian manufacturers medical devices and software for treating cancer and other medical conditions with radiotherapy, radiosurgery, proton therapy and brachytherapy. Varian is also a supplier of tubes and digital detectors for X-ray imaging in medical, scientific, and industrial applications.

June 11, 2008 - Imaging On Call LLC, a teleradiology provider has acquired NightVision Radiology Inc.

With the addition of NightVision, Imaging On Call (IOC) will increase its roster of physicians to 31 radiologists serving a growing and expanding base of U.S. hospitals and radiology practices.

June 10, 2008 - Wright Medical Group Inc., an orthopedic medical device company, said it has acquired certain assets of A.M. Surgical Inc., a company focused on providing endoscopic soft tissue release products for foot and ankle surgeons.

Wright has been marketing A.M. Surgical’s foot and ankle products since October 2007 pursuant to a previously announced distribution agreement between the parties.
