December 11, 2009 – At this year’s Radiology Society of America (RSNA) annual meeting last week, GE Healthcare, presented the new Innova dose-efficient X-ray technology to reduce patient radiation exposure.

December 10, 2009 - If you want to know today what diagnostic imaging technologies you will be using tomorrow, then tune into itnTV's coverage of RSNA. The new medical imaging equipment introduced at RSNA is a key indicator of which technologies have moved beyond research centers and into the clinical setting.

At RSNA 2009 Philips Healthcare featured the new Precedence SPECT/CT system, which unites high-end, multislice CT with a flexible gamma camera. The gamma camera is designed for functional and molecular imaging that can aid diagnosis and treatment in cardiology and oncology.

December 9, 2009 - Proton therapy is gaining wider adoption in the United States, having treated more than 3,200 of the 18,000 Oklahomans diagnosed with cancer in 2009.

December 10, 2009 - Better dose conformality can be reached with intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) in comparison to three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy techniques - as used in dose escalation studies - offering an additional opportunity for healthy tissue protection, reports Michael Pinkawa, M.D., in an abstract of his study published in UroToday.com.

Hologic features its Selenia Dimensions, including Selenia Breast tomosynthesis, that may alleviate the challenges created by overlapping breast tissue in a traditional mammogram by presenting a slice-by-slice view of the breast.

December 9, 2009 - An expert panel reviewing Canadian medical isotope productions selected electron beam technology as a superior approach to accelerator-based isotope production.

The panel has recommended the Canadian government make an investment in linear accelerator (linac) technology to address the country’s shrinking isotope supply.

At RSNA 2009, Sectra showcased its digital mammography solution, Sectra MicroDose Mammography, featuring further enhanced performance for high-volume screening. Sectra customers perform as many as 15, four-image examinations per hour. With a fast detector, the system allows for an even higher productivity if needed.
