June 8, 2012 — Bayer HealthCare announced the formation of a strategic partnership with Radimetrics Inc. that will offer U.S. healthcare professionals the industry’s first computed tomography (CT) dose management software portfolio to include radiation and contrast dose tracking. Through the agreement, Bayer will distribute the Radimetrics eXposure Radiation Dose Management (RDM) software in addition to Bayer’s existing contrast-focused dose management solution.

June 11, 2012 — Mevion Medical Systems, Inc., a radiation therapy company dedicated to advancing the treatment of cancer, announced that it has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its Mevion S250 Proton Therapy System. The Mevion S250 is a first-of-its-kind proton therapy system that provides the same precise, non-invasive treatment advantages and capabilities of complex, large, and costly proton therapy systems but with higher patient throughput, a significantly reduced footprint, improved reliability, and lower implementation and operational costs.  The Mevion S250 delivers precise and intense proton beams that physicians can use to treat tumors and lesions or any other condition where radiotherapy is indicated. 

 

June 11, 2012 — Calgary Scientific Inc. has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market its ResolutionMD Web 2.9 Vessel Analysis module for post-processing diagnostic review and analysis of patient computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans.

June 8, 2012  — Patients vary widely in their response to concussions, but scientists haven’t understood why. Now, using a new technique for analyzing data from brain imaging studies, researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and Montefiore Medical Center have found that concussion victims have unique spatial patterns of brain abnormalities that change over time.

 

June 11, 2012 — MIM Software is currently preparing MIMneuro version 5.5.0 for release in June. June 11, 2012 — An estimated 85.3 million computed tomography (CT) procedures were performed in 8,465 hospital and non-hospital sites in 2011 in the United States, representing an annual growth rate of 4 percent compared to 2010, when an estimated 81.9 million procedures were performed, according to a new survey of CT sites in the U.S. by IMV Medical Information Division.

June 11, 2012 — Matakina International Ltd. of Wellington, New Zealand, and Mammography Reporting System Inc. (MRS) of Seattle, announced that the companies have signed an agreement that allows MRS to provide users of the MRS7 reporting system with the ability to utilize the Volpara breast density software scores in an updated user interface.
