November 15, 2023 — A number of new activities and other ongoing special events are featured on the program this year for the 109th Scientific Sessions and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, RSNA23. Planners of “RSNA 2023: Leading Through Change” encourage attendees to take time to connect and appreciate the many ways radiologists contribute  and combine their skills, compassion, curiosity and creativity. From a fundraising 5K to benefit the RSNA Foundation to a community service volunteer event (already at capacity!), daily discussions on important topics (sustainability, DE&I, quality & safety) and an art contest, there are myriad ways for RSNA 2023 to add value to the experience even beyond the wide-ranging science and innovation available. A summary of those events is shared here.

RSNA Connect: Coffee, Cocoa and Conversation (NEW) — Connect with your community and meet in person for informal conversation about current topics in radiology. Attendees are encouraged to join any of the following gatherings:

RSNA 2023 on Sunday, Nov. 26, from 2–2:45 p.m. — This is a helpful way to meet a new colleague, share a meeting hack, learn tips and tricks to navigate the meeting, and the city of Chicago, on day one of RSNA23.

ChatGPT & Generative AI on Monday, Nov. 27, from 9–9:45 a.m. — Here, participants can meet here to discuss this fast-growing technology — benefits and challenges worthy of consideration.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) on Monday, Nov. 27, from 3–3:45 p.m. — An opportunity to join members of RSNA’s Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and connect with other meeting attendees interested in promoting diversity, advocacy and allyship in radiology.

Quality & Safety on Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 9:30–10:15 a.m. — RSNA describes this session in the following way: Interested in joining a discussion on customizing your platforms to meet Quality and Safety needs, and leveraging the EHR for Quality and Safety? This special program is sponsored by the RSNA Quality Improvement Committee, and is an opportunity for vendors and radiologists to discuss needs and potential solutions. RSNA is asking interested participants to RSVP and submit a topic for group discussion, from which the top three topics received will be chosen for discussion.

RSNA 5K Fun Run on Tuesday, Nov. 28, begins at 7 a.m. at Arvey Field, South Grant Park ($40 fee) — Those looking to go for a good run, walk or wheel for a good cause can join colleagues and experience the beauty of sunrise on Lake Michigan’s shoreline alongside the RSNA community.

Community Service Event (NEW), also on Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in McCormick Place — RSNA’s Health Equity Committee and 300 volunteers will be assembling cold weather and hygiene kits to be donated to two local organizations. While nearly 80,000 Chicagoans have no place to call home every night, thanks to organizations like Care for Friends and Sarah’s Circle — and the volunteers who support them — Chicago’s unhoused have hope. A new event on the RSNA Annual Meeting schedule, this year’s at capacity event is already being planned for 2024.

Sustainability on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 9–9:45 a.m. — For those looking to learn how sustainable their practice or institution is, RSNA planners note that this program allows attendees to share ideas—large and small—about how to improve the environmental impact of radiology.

Technical Exhibit Hall Happy Hour on Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 2–5 p.m. in the Technical Exhibits halls — This no cost social event allows attendees to raise a glass to RSNA 2023 during happy hour in the Technical Exhibits. Participating exhibitors will serve appetizers and beverages at their booths, allowing all to connect with industry influencers, colleagues and friends in a relaxed atmosphere.

Radiology Art Contest Display: The Art of Imaging (NEW) from Nov. 26–30 in the Learning Center — In a special, new program feature for RSNA, this art contest display allows attendees to admire their colleague’s creativity and appreciate the skills of global radiologists. The categories in the Art Contest include:

- Radiology art—Medical images altered to become works of art

- Mixed media artwork—An image of artwork that was created using more than one medium
