Chicago, Here We Come!

The theme this year is Redefining Radiology. RSNA 2021 will highlight new ideas and technologies that redefine what it means to work as a radiologist. This theme will be kicked off in the opening session, held in Arie Crown Theater at McCormick Place on Sunday, November 28, at 4 p.m. CT, when Mahoney and James Merlino, M.D., discuss the new ideas and technologies that are redefining what it means to be a radiologist today.

The in-person 2021 Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) meeting in August was the first glimmer of the light at the end of a long tunnel in the COVID-19 pandemic a few months ago — the industry’s first sign that things were starting to return to normal. It only seemed fitting that this was the first large-scale medical meeting in over a year, since it was the first large conference to cancel just days before it was to begin in 2020 due to the onset of the pandemic.

Right on its heels in October, we saw the return of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) annual meeting, and now in November, we finally see the return of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago. If the pattern set by HIMSS21 is any indication, it is probable that RSNA21 will see fewer attendees and exhibitors. However, for those who attend, it likely will mean more meaningful discussions with educators and peers, and a more focused show floor.

“RSNA 2021 will provide a long-awaited opportunity to reconnect with colleagues from near and far, experience a wealth of educational opportunities, and explore the latest medical imaging research discoveries and technological advances,” stated RSNA President Mary C. Mahoney, M.D., in her online welcome back to attendees and exhibitors.

With more than 2,000 presenters, a multitude of science, education and CME opportunities, and a plenary program that highlights timely topics in radiology, RSNA 2021 will showcase the new ideas and technologies that are redefining the future of the field. Please stop by Booth 1848 in the South Hall and tell us about the trends and new ideas you are discovering at the conference.
