May 18, 2020 — CORHIO, a health information exchange in Colorado enabling data exchange for its 19,000+ users, announced today an important milestone with Health Images. The two companies have partnered to facilitate the exchange of medical images between healthcare providers, regardless of health system or electronic health record system. This marks the first time an imaging center has made images available in the CORHIO HIE.

The diagnostic-quality images include MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds, mammograms and X-rays from Health Images, a comprehensive medical imaging company in Colorado.

Health Images has been sending reports of radiology results performed at their 14 locations to the CORHIO HIE since 2016 for authorized caregivers to access.

“This project marks an exciting milestone for CORHIO and we are thrilled to partner with Health Images to make these results available to the healthcare community in Colorado,” said Morgan Honea, CORHIO CEO. “Health Images is the first organization to successfully provide links to diagnostic images in our HIE, which will greatly enhance the patient results available in the CORHIO network.”

Now that qualified Colorado healthcare providers can click a link in the CORHIO secure web-based portal PatientCare 360® to access the medical images, crucial time will be saved in clinical decision-making. There will no longer be a need to log into a separate system for the information, or to call other facilities to have the images physically sent. This enhanced functionality will improve communication among providers who are caring for the same patients, but who use different electronic health record systems.

“We at Health Images take pride in providing quick, easy access to patient’s reports and images for doctors and staff. This leads to more efficient and effective treatment for patients. With CORHIO as an avenue that is widely used, we are excited to collaborate with them on this offering,” said Shelley McLeod, VP of Operations at Health Images.
