Three-dimensional computed tomography system for breast cancer detection will be showcased at RSNA 2017

Koning Corp. Receives Vizient New Innovative Technology Contract for Breast CT System

October 31, 2017 — Koning Corp. announced it will showcase its Koning Breast CT (computed tomography) system at the 2017 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting, Nov. 26-Dec. 1 in Chicago. The system received an Innovative Technology contract in March from Vizient Inc., the largest member-owned healthcare company in the country.

The contract was based on a recommendation of Koning Breast CT (CBCT 1000) by hospital experts with expertise in this category who serve on one of Vizient’s member-led councils. Innovative Technology contracts are reserved for technologies that demonstrate an ability to enhance clinical care or patient safety, and those that improve an organization’s care delivery and business model.

The Koning CBCT 1000 is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved 3-D breast cancer detection device. According to the company, the system dramatically improves the way clinicians visualize and evaluate breast tissue for cancer detection.

Vizient Inc. represents the combined strengths of the organizations formerly known as VHA Inc., University HealthSystem Consortium, Novation and MedAssets’ Spend and Clinical Resource Management. Since 2003, nearly 2,200 new and innovative products and technologies have been submitted through the Vizient Innovative Technology program. Vizient works with member-led councils and task forces to identify and review potentially innovative products. If it is determined that a product is innovative, a contract may be awarded outside of Vizient’s competitive bid cycle.
