Tennessee cancer network will add expertise in proton therapy to development of next-generation oncology information system

Provision Healthcare Joins RayCare Clinical Partners

September 11, 2017 — Provision, located in Knoxville, Tenn., is the latest to partner with RaySearch Laboratories on the development of its next-generation oncology information system (OIS), RayCare.

The global association of RayCare clinical partners now consists of, in order of entry:

  • UMC Groningen (Groningen, the Netherlands);
  • Iridium Kankernetwerk (Belgium);
  • The University of California San Francisco (UCSF);
  • MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston);
  • University of Wisconsin–Madison; and
  • Provision CARES Proton Therapy Centers.

RaySearch’s clinical partners play a central role in the development of RayCare. They provide input on what an OIS should provide for various types of treatments, for different roles within healthcare teams and, ultimately, for patients. This input feeds into RaySearch’s development process, and new software versions are regularly provided to the partners so they can provide feedback on the implementation.

The RayCare clinical partners encompass different types of cancer care providers. Provision brings a strong focus on developing, managing and operating comprehensive cancer centers featuring proton therapy, bringing know-how needed to provide the highest possible quality of cancer care.

Niek Schreuder, vice president and chief medical physicist for Provision Healthcare, says: “For Provision, it is of great strategic importance for our Cancer CARE Network to have an integrated and efficient solution for patient treatment and care. RaySearch has the competence and innovative focus that Provision needs, and we share a vision of the future of cancer care.”

RayCare integrates the high-performance radiation therapy algorithms available in RayStation treatment planning system and adds advanced features for clinical resource optimization, workflow automation and adaptive radiation therapy.
