August 24, 2011 – Only a few years after its introduction at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA)’s annual meeting in late 2007, Philips Brilliance iCT scanners have been installed around the world, including Shandong Tumor Hospital & Institutein Jinan, Shandong Province, a top oncology hospitals in China. Shandong Tumor Hospital and Institute recently marked a milestone by receiving the 300th shipment.

“As an oncology hospital, we were seeking a solution that would provide high quality, sharp images with low dose and we found that with Brilliance iCT,” said Wenwu Li, M.D., chief of radiology at Shandong Tumor Hospital & Institute. “The technology is well-suited to support accurate staging for surgery and liver analysis, all vital in our efforts to best serve our patients.”

The newest software version on the iCT, released in April, provides users new ways of managing dose without sacrificing image quality. The version also includes iDose4, Philips latest iterative reconstruction technique.

“The clinical benefits that can be achieved with Brilliance iCT are a clear indicator of why our customers chose to invest in the technology—especially during a suffering global economy,” said Dominic Smith, general manager, computed tomography (CT), Philips Healthcare. “This milestone demonstrates our continued commitment to delivering innovation and aiding in high quality patient care.”

To date, 400 Brilliance iCT contracts have been signed globally.
