November 15, 2010 – New management reports and enhanced hard and soft blocks appointment scheduling in the scheduling suite are the latest upgrades in NovaRIS/NovaPACS combined radiology system to help improve workflow for hospitals, imaging centers and clinics.

The new management reports in NovaRIS and NovaPACS 7.2
provide facilities with the ability to drill down into specific staffing, billing and productivity areas to better manage specific offices and/or departments. Within the scheduling suite, NovaRIS now provides the flexibility to “hard block” time to eliminate erroneous appointment scheduling when staff is not available, along with “soft block” that enables informational flags to be put into the system while still allowing staff to schedule appointments if they fit into the parameters of the soft block criteria.

Additional functionality in the new system includes the ability to view multiple data sources at one time, create worklists for multiple sites and facilities, automatically purge temporary exams from the system based on the facility code and archive studies in the picture archiving and communications system (PACS) according to the sending facility.

NovaPACS is a complete, turnkey PACS offering fast image retrieval, full-feature viewer with intuitive interface and 7-year on-site archive with off-site emergency backup. Full screen viewing, easy to use menus and mouse-based functions are available to help enhance efficiency and referring physicians have complete access to images and reports from any computer. NovaRIS generates reports, measures profitability and facilitates paperless management of patient records.

The combined RIS/PACS system is web-based and runs on the same open source platform to ensure seamless integration and help speed installation. The combined system is also available in Spanish and through an ASP model.
