April 5, 2010 - The Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA) will participate in a medical device security conference designed to address safety issues with medical equipment.

The event titled Information Security—Achieving Information Security on Federal Networked Medical Devices will be held April 14-15 in Arlington, Va.

The main objectives of the conference is to identify future federal medical device security needs, orient participants on emerging global standards, and discuss the range of commercial challenges facing medical device manufacturers.
Other areas of focus include supporting the interaction, planning, and engagement of federal agencies and industry to anticipate emerging issues in privacy, integrity, and availability of medical information within federal networks. Speakers will include personnel from the Department of Defense (DOD), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Veteran’s Affairs Administration, and security experts from security and medical device consultants.
 
MITA member companies that have already registered are Agfa HealthCare, Carestream Health, Fujifilm Medical Systems USA, GE Healthcare, Philips Healthcare, Siemens Healthcare, and Toshiba America Medical Systems.
