November 15, 2007 – Viztek will introduce at RSNA 2007 Opal-Billing, a Web-based digital radiology billing application that integrates fully with Viztek Opal-RAD PACS and Opal-RIS for reportedly seamless digital radiology management from scheduling through claims tracking.

Sharing a single database with both Viztek applications, the system reportedly eliminates all duplicate data input and makes complete billing functionality and data available over the Internet to multiple offices or wherever needed for ultra-fast workflow.

Opal-Billing integrates with Opal-RIS to import studies automatically into its billing charge module. Following this, users read radiology reports with Opal-RAD PACS, add IDC9 codes and verify them for accuracy. Claims information can be viewed and modified, and co-payments are applied to the encounter. Opal-BILLING electronic claims may be submitted to the clearinghouse of the user’s choice in HIPAA-compliant 837 format.

A claims-tracking module helps insurance clerks monitor and manage claims in detail, according to the company. The module supports automatic importing of up-to-date industry-standard 835 and 837 payment records. The Opal-BILLING application also provides patient statements, tracks patient inquiries and generates a wide range of billing reports.
