August 3, 2009 - Merge Healthcare today announced that Allscripts has selected its Cedara WebAccess software application to “image enhance” Allscripts Electronic Health Record (EHR) solutions.

The Cedara WebAccess portal will provide a zero-footprint method of distributing medical images and reports to clinicians using Allscripts EHR solutions.
Allscripts plans to provide physicians with real-time, electronic access to medical images and associated information to help them in delivering safer, higher quality patient care. Together, the two companies will offer an image-enhanced electronic record to health systems across the country.
Designed for better interoperability across today’s healthcare enterprise, Cedara WebAccess provides integration without the duplication of data or the need for proprietary integrations with individual IT systems. It uses a zero-footprint deployment approach, which minimizes IT maintenance and hardware needs, “unclogs” busy data networks by sending much smaller files and helps with privacy regulations by ensuring that patient data is never stored on user machines. This standards-based viewer makes diagnostic quality images like X-rays, MRIs and CT scans available through any Web browser, which gives healthcare professionals ready access to medical images and reports anywhere, anytime.
