Initia’s RT announced today that it will introduce at the upcoming ASTRO TrackBeam, a new device that uses collimator- based technology to track moving targets, while delivering radiation treatment, for use with IMRT (intensity modulated radiotherapy) and SRS (stereotactic radiosurgery).
TrackBeam combines TrackLeaf cross-leaf mMLC (micro multi-leaf collimator) with its TrackPort mini-portal imaging device to deliver real-time target tracking using the MV treatment beam of the linear accelerator. Its configuration reportedly enables high resolution beam-steering, with real-time target localization and tracking using dynamic aperture shaping. Initia-RT is developing the technology for IGRT (image guided radiotherapy) applications.
