January 3, 2024 — Incyte Diagnostics announced a significant stride in advancing its pathology services through the implementation of state-of-the-art digital pathology services. Leveraging the innovative technology of Philips IntelliSite Pathology Solution, Incyte Diagnostics has installed two advanced slide scanners at its Spokane Valley laboratory, marking a transformative leap in diagnostic capabilities.

The newly installed slide scanners, designed specifically for high-volume laboratories, boast an impressive capacity to scan up to 300 slides per batch at an astounding 40 times magnification. Operating autonomously post-slide loading, these cutting-edge machines empower technologists at Incyte to streamline slide preparation, facilitating the swift delivery of meticulously scanned images to pathologists for interpretation.

Philips has played a vital role in this implementation, consistently collaborating with Incyte throughout the process and demonstrating prompt responses to address any concerns or workflow changes.

This digital transformation ensures that pathologists can promptly review scanned slides through a digital interface, expediting the diagnostic process compared to the traditional method of awaiting physical slide deliveries.

Utilizing a sophisticated software program, pathologists gain access to a suite of tools for measuring, annotating, and noting crucial elements on each patient’s specimen. The intuitive and expertly designed Image Management System (IMS) drove Incyte’s selection of Philips as the digital pathology partner. The user-friendly interface is tailored directly for pathologists and accurately emulates the experience of glass slide viewing. This technology not only enhances collaboration among pathologists but also enables real-time shared viewing of slides, fostering multidisciplinary knowledge sharing, expediting peer review processes, and ultimately enhancing decision-making capabilities. In addition to improving current processes, this integration sets Incyte up to be on the front line of incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) technology into pathology.

Dr. Isaac Grindeland, a distinguished pathologist at Incyte Diagnostics, emphasizes the profound impact of digital pathology on operational efficiencies, stating, “Digital pathology creates significant improvements in workload balance, subspecialty and consult optimization, case turnaround time, worksite flexibility, collaboration, and communication. Every moment matters for our patients, and digital pathology will help us increase the quality of care for them.”

With this strategic adoption of cutting-edge digital technology, Incyte Diagnostics solidifies its position as an industry leader in pathology services, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to delivering enhanced and efficient diagnostic solutions for improved patient care.
