The Puerto Rican digital precision pathology and clinical lab is now using the ArteraAI Prostate Test to help personalize and optimize treatments for patients with localized prostate cancer.

CorePlus Integrates Prostate Cancer Risk Stratification Tool into Digital Pathology Diagnostic Workflow

July 8,2026 — CorePlus, Puerto Rico’s fully digital precision pathology and clinical laboratory, has announced the integration of the ArteraAI Prostate Test into its diagnostic workflows. It is the first laboratory in Puerto Rico to bring this guideline-recommended AI test into routine clinical use, allowing for fast and convenient delivery of treatment insights. The ArteraAI Prostate Test is an advanced risk stratification tool to help personalize and optimize treatments for patients with localized prostate cancer.

The collaboration brings together CorePlus’s expertise in precision anatomic and clinical pathology with Artera’s validated multimodal artificial intelligence (MMAI) platform. Together, the organizations aim to improve diagnostic accuracy, accelerate clinical decision-making, and deliver more personalized care for prostate cancer patients.

The ArteraAI Prostate Test is an AI test that analyzes the digital images of prostate cancer biopsies. Because it analyzes images of pre-existing histopathology slides, the test consumes no tissue. Upon completing a successful validation process, CorePlus can send biopsy mages to Artera and typically receive results within 24 hours.

Prostate Cancer Facts

Prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death in American men, behind only lung cancer. Prostate cancer is a serious disease, but most men diagnosed with prostate cancer do not die from it. In fact, more than 3.5 million men in the United States who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer are still alive today. Because of the variability in prostate cancer aggressiveness, a major challenge facing clinicians and patients is determining the right treatment options, as both under- and over-treatment can be an issue.

The ArteraAI Prostate Test is the only test included in NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines) that can predict therapy benefit and forecast long-term outcomes in localized prostate cancer. The ArteraAI Prostate Test can increase patients' confidence by offering more clarity around whether they will benefit from a specific treatment course.

“We are proud of our close partnership with Artera, expanding from initial research and development efforts into clinical usage and now operational integration. Through persistence and precision, our teams have delivered AI-enabled insights to our largely underserved patient population, faster and more conveniently than even most leading academic centers,” said Mariano de Socarraz, Founder & CEO of CorePlus. “CorePlus continues its important mission of transforming patient care through precision pathology, turning years of research into real-life impact for patients.”

Juan C. Santa Rosario, M.D., FCAP, FASCP, Chief Medical Officer of CorePlus, will deliver an oral presentation of the teams’ joint research, “Validation of a multimodal AI biomarker in a Puerto Rican cohort with localized prostate cancer,” at the Digital Pathology Association’s PathVisions conference in October.

By uniting AI-powered diagnostics with precision pathology, CorePlus and Artera are working to ensure that prostate cancer patients in Puerto Rico receive earlier, more accurate diagnoses and timely access to the treatments most likely to benefit them.
