Program offered insight on electronic recordkeeping for radiation oncology, with CEU accreditation

IBA CAREprogram, webinar, Electronic Recordkeeping in RT, radiation therapy

October 16, 2015 — IBA (Ion Beam Applications S.A.) announced the successful response of over 120 attendees for the live webinar “Electronic Recordkeeping in Radiation Therapy” delivered Sept. 23, 2015. The webinar was hosted by Medical Physics Web with funding provided by an IBA educational grant and was presented by James Nunn, MS, CHP, DABR, senior medical physicist at LewisGale Regional Hospital in Virginia.

The webinar is part of IBA’s CAREprogram mission to bring informational seminars, webinars and trainings to their customers. Each attendee received 1 CEU credit from CAMPEP, MDCB and ASRT. This webinar will be available on-demand for the next 12 months, although CEU credit will not be available for the on-demand webinar.

The presentation showed how electronic recordkeeping is readily and routinely used in the setting of radiology and nuclear medicine service lines, but strangely absent in radiation oncology. Current offerings from oncology software vendors were covered that aim to reduce the amount of paperwork and streamline the acquisition and processing of quality assurance data. In addition, an overview of the solution Nunn is in the process of implementing at the LewisGale facility was presented
