June 2, 2014 — The American College of Radiology (ACR) National Radiology Data Registry (NRDR) has been recognized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as a Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) for the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS). Eligible professionals can now take part in NRDR to:

  • Meet PQRS requirements based on satisfactory QCDR participation;
  • Submit data for 20 non-PQRS measures (in addition to existing PQRS measures);
  • Have the opportunity to meet MOC practice quality improvement requirements; and
  • Gain relevant performance feedback to help enhance patient care and maximize Value Modifier performance.

“This is a tremendous step forward for NRDR and for providers wishing to take part in PQRS. CMS has provided our colleagues an opportunity to use meaningful quality metrics for meeting reporting requirements and achieve success under the Value Modifier program with minimal additional burden,” said Jeffrey C. Weinreb, M.D., FACR, chair of the NRDR. “We are pleased that CMS has recognized NRDR as an avenue for providers to compare their practice performance to regional and national benchmarks and help improve medical imaging care nationwide.”

There is no additional charge for 2014 PQRS reporting for facilities that have a signed participation agreement and registered for NRDR by June 30, 2014. Facilities not yet participating in NRDR can register at www.nrdr.acr.org.
