May 26, 2011 — U.S. customers are purchasing Carestream Health’s cloud-based RIS/PACS and vendor-neutral archiving services to streamline operational efficiencies and reduce costs. Carestream Vue eHealth services deliver fully featured, efficient image review, management and distribution from any location throughout the enterprise. The company also provides vendor-neutral archiving of patient data and imaging studies.

Winthrop-University Hospital, Mineola, N.Y., recently signed a seven-year, multi-million-dollar order for cloud-based RIS/PACS and archiving services. Winthrop-University Hospital is a 591-bed university-affiliated medical center and state-designated Regional Trauma Center. The hospital selected Carestream Health as its services provider because of its proven track record of worldwide implementations.

Vue eHealth PACS Services delivers full PACS functionality for image review, storage and distribution throughout the enterprise, including delivering advanced reading tools to remote radiologists. Vue eHealth Archive Services offers virtualized, vendor-neutral long-term storage as well as data protection, and disaster recovery of clinical data such as DICOM images and XDS documents. The Vue eHealth Portal enables healthcare providers that use the company’s archive service to allow access to that data by authorized clinicians anywhere in the world through a simple Internet connection.

These cloud-based services provide technology obsolescence protection and can reduce costs by up to 30 percent. Healthcare facilities pay a per-study usage charge instead of investing in building, maintaining and upgrading a large internal infrastructure.
