Civco to Showcase Portfolio of Patient Positioning and Immobilization Solutions at ASTRO 2014

September 12, 2014 — Civco Medical Solutions will be featuring an expansive solution lineup at the upcoming annual meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) in San Francisco, including more advanced patient positioning options for stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and SRS/SRT (stereotactic radiosurgery/stereotactic radiotherapy) treatments.

Civco's team of motion management experts will demonstrate additional treatment solutions and how they simplify the clinician's workday and improve workflow and efficiency between imaging and treatment. These solutions for head and neck, breast, lung, abdomen and prostate will be spotlighted at the show:

  • Body Pro-Lok ONE SBRT Immobilization: This system allows for customized setups utilizing ONEBridge versus three for varying patient types. This new advanced design features both tilt and lateral offset features as well as an enhanced contour for improved clearance of the gantry. The bridge secures directly to the Universal Couchtop, thus eliminating the need for overlays and ensuring equivalent setups between CT (computed tomography) and treatment.
  • Protura Robotic Patient Positioning System: Remotely repositions patients with robotic six degrees of freedom, giving Varian linear accelerator (linac) users the ability to ensure sub-millimeter positioning accuracy from outside the treatment room. Protura's integration with Varian treatment technology automatically opens patient information in Protura software, drawing it from Varian's 4DTC system, automatically loads patient shift data to match Varian's On-Board Imager (OBI) kV imaging system and automatically imports the Varian pedestal location. Combined with Civco's comprehensive motion management solutions, Protura is optimized to handle the rigors of a busy clinic while improving efficiency and throughput. Protura and Varian integration, along with AlignRT 3-D imaging system integration, will be demonstrated in the Civco booth throughout the meeting. Protura 1.5.0 software now provides an interface solution for Mosaiq users.
  • Universal Couchtop Long Extension: The Universal Couchtop Long Extension (UCT LE) provides seamless imaging and treatment planning with dosimetrically matched couchtops that feature a large, junction-free and artifact-free treatment area. The unique profile of the UCT LE allows the Body Pro-Lok ONEbridge to attach directly to the couchtop, enabling a seamlessly integrated SBRT immobilization platform. Several new additions have been released to the UCT extension family, including a Kevlar solution.
  • trUpoint Arch SRS/SRT System: The trUpoint Arch improves the patient's experience during SRS/SRT treatment with noninvasive, rigid and secure immobilization that permits less than 1 mm of movement during intrafraction testing. Multiple immobilization methods are used, allowing the clinician to customize each setup based on the patient and clinical protocols. truPoint Arch has now received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for MR (magnetic resonance) environments.
