Bracco Acquires Contrast Injector Maker Swiss Medical Care

January 6, 2012 - Bracco Imaging SpA has acquired Swiss Medical Care (SMC), a Swiss company headquartered in Lausanne and engaged in research, production and marketing of automated systems for the administration of contrast agents for diagnostic imaging.

"This acquisition marks the continuation of a journey that began with the acquisition of Acist Medical Systems in 2001 and continued with the incorporation of EZEM Inc. in 2008,” said Fulvio Renoldi Bracco, head of the global business imaging unit at Bracco Imaging SpA. “The addition of the innovative products from SMC allows Bracco to further strengthen its portfolio of solutions for radiology and diagnostic imaging."

"We are very confident that, thanks to Bracco's exceptional global presence, CT Exprés will get a very rapid adoption in many different countries, for the benefit of radiology teams and patients," said Frédéric Neftel, CEO and president of Debiotech SA.

Swiss Medical Care was founded in 2003 when Debiotech SA and a group of private investors created the company ti specialize in sales and marketing in the field of diagnostic imaging.

Bracco is an integrated multinational group with offices in both Milan and Minneapolis.

This image is of an 80 kg woman with a newly diagnosed IDH-wildtype glioblastoma. The quarter dose image on the left was obtained after the administration of 4 ml of MultiHance. Subsequently, an additional 12 ml of MultiHance was administered and the cumulative full dose image in the center was obtained. The image on the right was rendered following artificial intelligence processing of the 4 ml image using eGad genetic algorithms. This image has the quality of triple dose gadolinium even though only one quarter dose gadolinium was given.
