Bard's new Simetry Brachytherapy Program is a complete system for the treatment of prostate cancer based on individual anatomy.
The Simetry Brachytherapy Program uniformly loads the periphery of the prostate with connected SourceLink trains, then optimizes interior seed placement, creating a balanced halo of seeds around the prostate to consistently distribute the dose across the prostate. SourceLink Connectors hold the seeds in place once it has been determined where they should be positioned.
The system also features intra-operative planning, designed to efficiently minimize inaccuracies due to gland movement while achieving optimal dose coverage of the prostate.
