Australia Implements Elekta's Monaco 5 Treatment Planning System

Elekta Monaco 5 Treatment Planning System Radiation Therapy VMAT IMRT
January 30, 2014 — Oceania Oncology implemented Elekta’s Monaco 5 treatment planning system.

Radiation therapy staff at Oceania's clinics in Maroochydore and Bundaberg began training on Monaco 5 in December 2013 and anticipated clinical use to begin in January 2014.

Oceania Oncology’s purchase of Monaco 5 builds on its previous Elekta acquisitions including Synergy system with Agility MLC and MOSAIQ Oncology Information System.

Oceania will migrate from step-and-shoot intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) to VMAT. Monaco 5 supports VMAT, IMRT, 3-D conformal radiation therapy, SRS and SRT. Monaco 5 utilizes the Monte Carlo dose engine.
