Leading medical society for cancer specialists awards FASTRO designation to 43 exemplary physicians, physicists and scientists

July 9, 2025 — The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) selected 43 members to receive the ASTRO Fellow (FASTRO) designation this year. This prestigious honor recognizes ASTRO members’ outstanding achievements and contributions to the Society, cancer research, education, patient care and the specialty. The new Fellows will be recognized at ASTRO’s 67th Annual Meeting in San Francisco in September.

The 2025 ASTRO Fellows include physicians, physicists and cancer biologists whose work advances radiation therapy’s critical role in cancer treatment. The FASTRO designation has been awarded to just 541 of ASTRO’s 10,000 members worldwide since its inception in 2006.

“These distinguished leaders embody ASTRO’s core principles of excellence, innovation and unwavering dedication to improving patients’ lives through radiation oncology. On behalf of ASTRO, we celebrate their elevation to FASTRO status and their meaningful contributions to cancer care,” said Howard M. Sandler, MD, FASTRO, Chair of the ASTRO Board of Directors.
