July 15, 2021 — The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released the calendar year 2022 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) proposed rule. The ACR has created this initial review of provisions within the MPFS proposed rule that may impact radiology or radiation oncology.
Among other things, the MPFS rule would begin the payment penalty phase of the Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) program on the later of Jan. 1, 2023, or the Jan. 1 that follows the declared end of the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE).
