July 17, 2007 – Premier recently announced that it has extended its agreement with MEDRAD Inc. to provide vascular injection systems and related disposables used in Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance (MR) and Cardiovascular (CV) imaging for two additional years.

July 16, 2007 — Four years ago this month, new rules went into effect that restricted the long hours worked by many physicians in training. Now researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine have shown that the regulations are associated with somewhat lower death rates in high-risk medical patients in teaching hospitals.

The new work hours are not, however, associated with an improved outcome for surgical patients in teaching hospitals.

July 15, 2007 – Under the terms of a recently signed distribution agreement, Oncology Services International (OSI) will market Initia-RT’s products for radiotherapy in the U.S. Initia-RT’s current product offering includes TrackLeaf mMLC with crossleaf architecture and four sets of leaves, and CrossPlan, a comprehensive treatment planning software. Initia is also preparing for release of IGRT products, including TrackBeam real-time imager incorporating dynamic tracking and treatment delivery.

July 16, 2007 – A medical team at University of California, San Diego (UCSD) recently performed image-guided radiosurgery using Trilogy technology from Varian Medical Systems to treat a patient’s trigeminal neuralgia. Trigeminal neuralgia, an intractable disorder of the trigeminal nerve, can cause almost incapacitating pain.
