March 9, 2009 – GE Healthcare announced today at the Society of Interventional Radiology’s annual meeting that it has entered into collaboration with STERIS Corp. to offer STERIS products in GE interventional suites as part of a strategy to integrate and equip interventional suites with leading-edge technologies.

The Sectra multimodality mammography workstation is equipped with dedicated software tools to meet the special workflow and throughput requirements of mammography. The system features fast image display, scalable storage capacity and a dedicated keypad with programmed shortcut keys.

Sanarus Medical will showcase its suite of breast care products, including its Visica System, which has predominately been used in the cryoablation of non-cancerous tumors called fibroadenomas.

Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc. will showcase improvements to its Mammotome MammoMARK Breast Biopsy Site Identifiers, which reportedly further enhance performance and accuracy in marking.

ScImage has implemented automatic display normalization on its Web-based gated SPECT viewing capabilities. The solution also has the ability to adjust the window/level of the stress series, the rest series or both independently.

Hosted Solutions by RamSoft is a complement to RamSoft’s PowerServer series of PACS, RIS/PACS and teleradiology systems. The solution aims to enable customers to work seamlessly within RamSoft’s Web-based software while streamlining and maximizing their workflow efficiency, without having to house on-site servers, install fiber optic networks or employ IT staff for server maintenance.

Powered by Awarepoint, Skytron Asset Manager is a RFID/RTLS real-time asset tracking technology designed to deliver immediate and long term operational cost savings that maximize equipment utilization, reduce rental expenses, improve patient safety with minimal installation and training costs.

The Planmed Nuance Excel FFDM unit (currently not FDA approved) boasts proprietary TriFilter technology with the new Tungsten X-ray tube, designed to reduce levels of radiation during a digital mammography exam. This new technology uses less than 60 percent of the dose normally used in conventional digital mammography.


Volumetric data produced from multislice CT and MR systems provide valuable insight for clinicians, especially within the cardiac arena where the number of images required to diagnose and treat a single patient can range from tens to thousands.

The Aspire workstation delivers multi-modality breast imaging functionality to complement FUJIFILM’s FFDM offering; it can be installed as an image and information management solution or it can be a supplement to facilities’ existing PACS.
This enhancement provides a method to better align breast images at the chest wall for symmetrical presentation to the radiologist.
