June 4, 2009 - Lantheus Medical Imaging Inc. said today the company’s leading imaging agent, Cardiolite (Kit for the Preparation of Technetium Tc99m Sestamibi for Injection), was used in a recently completed five-year study examining appropriate treatment regimens for patients with type 2 diabetes and coronary artery disease.

June 3, 2009 - In July 2009, the American College of Radiology (ACR) will launch the National Mammography Database (NMD), the newest addition to the National Radiology Dose Registry (NRDR), a warehouse of ACR registry databases that compiles data to allow radiology facilities to compare themselves to other facilities regionally and nationally according to facility type.
 

June 2, 2009 - Naviscan Inc. has issued a nonexclusive licensing agreement with an undisclosed imaging company for intellectual property that enables Naviscan’s Stereo Navigator PEM-guided biopsy accessory to obtain emission data, locate the abnormal tissue and process the data to guide a biopsy needle.

June 3, 2009 - The Chalk River Laboratories (CRL) nuclear reactor, which supplies about a third of the world’s medical isotopes, has been shut down since May 14 and is not expected to be back for at least three months, according to Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. (AECL).

The reactor produces medical isotopes such as molybdenum-99 (Mo-99), which are used in diagnostic nuclear imaging scans.

June 2, 2009 - Celsense Inc. reported it is one of the recipients in a four-year $1.95 million grant from the National Institutes of Health, funding to evaluate Cell Sense, the company’s fluorocarbon-based magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) cell tracking reagent, for clinical use.
