The IBA MagicMaX Universal is an optimized multimeter solution for advanced beam verification and quality assurance (QA) in all X-ray imaging modalities, including computed tomography (CT), radiography, fluoroscopy, dental and mammography.

A team of pediatric neurosurgeons and neuroradiologists at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center has developed a way to minimize dangerous radiation exposure in children with a condition that requires repeat computed tomography (CT) scans of the brain. The experts say they reduced exposure without sacrificing the diagnostic accuracy of the images or compromising treatment decisions.

In a new report from Sectra, 78 referring physicians and 78 radiologists share their views on the process of ordering studies and communicating results. Radiology lies at the very center of the healthcare chain. Most patients pass through an imaging department at one point or another in their treatment. That said, an organization’s overall effectiveness is highly dependent upon the ability of radiology to provide excellent service to referring physicians.

Piramal Imaging announced the company has submitted a detailed response to the Council on Medical Service (CMS) regarding the draft decision to limit Medicare coverage of beta-amyloid positron emission tomography (PET) imaging in dementia and neurodegenerative disease.[1] Piramal Imaging's response, originally submitted on July 29, 2013, was posted on CMS's website as part of the public comment process, which was open through August 2. As of August 8, CMS's website indicated more than 200 people had posted responses. Piramal Imaging strongly encourages the public to continue to submit evidence to CMS showing why beta-amyloid imaging is a medically necessary diagnostic tool for appropriate Medicare populations by sending information to [email protected].

Radiologists at Belgium’s Sint-Rembert general hospital were the first to test and approve the image display, workflow management and personalized settings of Agfa HealthCare’s new IMPAX Agility solution. It passed with honors, connecting the hospital’s radiology department with medical imaging of the future.

In hybrid operating rooms (ORs), hospitals require a flexible cardiovascular X-ray system and table to allow both surgical and interventional procedures to be performed. Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc.’s Infinix DP-i X-ray system is now compatible with its CAT-880B hybrid table for hybrid and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures.

The largest and busiest children's Primary Care Center between New York and Boston, Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC) has a medical staff of nearly 1,100 across two hospitals, five specialty care centers and 10 practices.

The center's radiology services are provided by Jefferson Radiology, the largest radiology private practice group in Connecticut. With the use of a unified diagnostic platform radiologists benefit from instant sub-specialty consultation, seamless access to priors and improved collaboration.

High value is being delivered to all the stakeholders in a patient's care. "The value is in better and more accurate interpretations, the value is in more satisfied referring clinicians, the value is in being able to optimize a schedule that is more convenient and productive for the radiologists," said Stephen Poole, M.D., head of pediatric imaging at CCMC.
