The company recently completed 100,000 whole-body MRI scans.

Dec. 27, 2024 — Prenuvo, which makes whole-body MRI screening solutions for early cancer detection and other diseases, recently marked a milestone: 100,000 whole-body MRI scans completed. Each scan is a testament to the power of proactive healthcare, transforming lives through early detection and prevention.

“We have been building Prenuvo to challenge the belief that healthcare should be scary. Instead, it should inspire hope and empowerment," said Andrew Lacy, CEO of Prenuvo. "Reaching 100,000 scans is more than a milestone — it’s a testament to the growing movement of proactive healthcare. We’re celebrating this achievement as a step toward a future where more people can take control of their health, and we’re looking forward to the transformative milestones still ahead.”

Making an Impact

Since the company's founding in 2018, its mission has been to empower individuals with the information they need to take control of their health. Prenuvo's journey to 100,000 scans has saved numerous lives through early detection, provided peace of mind to thousands, and pioneered innovation in preventive healthcare.

  • 2.5 - 5% of patients have a life-threatening finding
  • Nearly half (49%) of patients find something worth keeping an eye on, while the remaining half have findings that are informational and not clinically actionable
  • 75% of patients showed signs of spinal degeneration, whether in the neck, lower back, or both (Note: not all cases lead to pain or symptoms of "tech neck" or low back pain)

Every scan represents a story of proactive health: a firefighter addressing the occupational toll on their bodya physiologist finding answers to long-standing concerns, or a parent taking proactive steps to secure their family’s future.

This milestone is a reflection of a unique value proposition that Prenuvo believes is the best path toward a world where fear of disease is replaced by empowering knowledge control, and peace of mind. This rests on a unique combination of pillars that no one else can claim in the field of whole-body screening:

  • patient experience that is quality-controlled end-to-end
  • technology stack optimizing hardware and software for diagnostic-quality whole-body imaging
  • A world-class medical and research practice

An Unparalleled Medical Group by Design

Prenuvo's Medical Group is focused exclusively on whole-body MRI, with a team of more than 80 board-certified radiologists, each bringing unparalleled expertise to advance early detection and proactive health management.

In the past year, Prenuvo has strategically expanded its medical leadership with key appointments: Dr. Daniel Durand as Chief Medical Officer and President of Prenuvo Medical Group; Dr. Tyler Vachon as Vice President of Quality, Safety, and Informatics; Dr. Sean London as Vice President of U.S. Radiology Practice; Dr. Vikash Modi as Senior Medical Director of Preventive Medicine; Dr. Yosef Chodakiewitz as Medical Director of Clinical Research; Sarah Colson, NP, as Director of Advanced Practice Providers; Dr. Giuliana Zaccardelli, MD, MBA, as Chief of Staff; and Dr. Jason Itri, Vice President of Body Imaging.

With a patient-first approach, Prenuvo's radiologists are positioned to empower individuals with clarity and actionable insights, helping them navigate their health journeys with confidence.

Pushing Boundaries

Prenuvo also has built up the world’s largest dataset of whole-body normative imaging. This structured approach to data enables the AI research and development team to open up a whole new world of applications that shed unique insights into the human aging process like never before. This work is reflected in more than 35 papers and abstracts presented at medical conferences such as the American Academy of Neurology, the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, and the Radiological Society of North America. The paper, "Visceral and Subcutaneous Abdominal Fat Predict Brain Volume Loss at Midlife in 10,001 Individuals," was the most-read article in the past two years in the Journal of Aging and Disease. The company's research on MRI-Based Prediction of Total and Regional Brain Volume Loss in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Independent of the Visceral Fat Distribution” was presented at Radiology Conference & Annual Meeting (RSNA).

This R&D work will also help develop new AI applications that will improve diagnostic accuracy, and expand the understanding of silent health conditions.
