The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has selected Riverrain’s ClearRead CT AI-powered technology as part of its Lung Precision Oncology Program.

February 1, 2024 — Nearly 8,000 veterans are diagnosed with lung cancer each year. Now at-risk veterans will have access to AI-powered CT technology that removes the web of vessels in the chest CT image, allowing radiologists to see clearly and decide confidently.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has selected Riverrain’s ClearRead CT AI-powered technology as part of its Lung Precision Oncology Program.

Automated precision measurements with ClearRead CT lead to improved repeatability and consistency of imaging interpretation across different radiology readers, times of day, and workload. This is important given the alarming levels of radiology burnout and talent shortage.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death for U.S. veterans. This increased risk is likely due to environmental pollutants and higher smoking rates. The use of this technology by the VA is a step toward addressing health disparities in this population.

ClearRead CT software is currently installed at 14 of 18 Veterans Integrated Services Networks, with the final 4 VISNs expected to go live in the first quarter of 2024.
