The RT package, now available on Aquilion Prime SP, Aquilion Lightning 80 and Aquilion LB, helps boost workflow and provides tools for oncology planning

Canon Adds Radiation Therapy Package to Aquilion Prime, Lightning CT Systems

February 11, 2019 – In the patient-centric world of radiation oncology, it is critical that computed tomography (CT) simulation is accessible, repeatable and flexible. To build on these values, Canon Medical Systems USA Inc. is now expanding its offerings for CT simulation in radiation oncology to include the Aquilion Prime SP and Aquilion Lightning 80 premium CT systems. In addition to the Aquilion LB, the Aquilion Prime SP and Aquilion Lightning 80 now include radiation therapy (RT) options that provide high-quality CT imaging and precision tools for oncology planning.

The RT Package, available on new or existing systems, offers a cost-effective solution that increases the usage, efficiency, and workflow of the CT scanners, and includes:

  • Extended field of view (EFOV) to see more of the anatomy. The Aquilion LB features an 85 cm EFOV, while the the Aquilion Prime SP and Aquilion Lightning 70 feature a 70 cm EFOV.
  • RT flat table top to scan in the same position for comfort and ease.
  • Respiratory gating that delivers robust flexibility for respiratory motion management; and
  • LAP lasers that improve in-room patient set-up and technologist workflow.

Aquilion Prime SP empowers facilities to handle challenging cases while providing staff with a fast, flexible and efficient solution. Canon Medical’s Aquilion Lightning 80 detector scanner also delivers high-quality imaging in a compact, affordable package. These 80-detector-row systems are designed to operate reliably and efficiently, producing high-quality images in a busy environment. Both CT systems feature 0.5 mm x 80 row PUREViSION detector technology (which can be configured and field upgraded from 80-160), 78 cm bore, 50 cm field of view, AIDR (Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction) 3-D and SEMAR (Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction) technologies.

Aquilion LB is specifically designed to meet oncology challenges while prioritizing patient care. With a 90 cm bore size, the Aquilion LB is capable of facilitating complex patient setups and providing enhanced patient comfort. CT simulation positioning can easily mirror radiation therapy positioning for even more confidence. This system features 0.5 mm x 16 row (32-slice) PUREViSION detector technology, 70 cm field of view, AIDR 3D and SEMAR technologies.
