Todd C Villines, M.D., and Gudrun Feuchtner, M.D., named co-executive editors

James Min Named Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography

May 1, 2018 — James K. Min, M.D., FSCCT, has been selected for a five-year term as the new editor-in-chief of the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (JCCT). He in turn has named Todd C. Villines, M.D., FSCCT, as executive editor along with Gudrun Feuchtner, M.D.

JCCT is the official journal of the Society of the Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT). The peer-reviewed journal integrates the entire international cardiovascular CT community including cardiologists and radiologists, from basic to clinical academic researchers, to private practitioners, engineers, allied professionals, industry and trainees. JCCT addresses a broad range of topics affecting cardiovascular CT imaging. The major focus is on original research as well as clinical and technical aspects of cardiovascular CT.

“Dr. Min is a leading physician scientist in the field of cardiovascular CT. We are delighted that he is taking on the task of leading JCCT for the next 5 years” said Leslee Shaw, Ph.D., FSCCT, who chaired the JCCT Editor-in-Chief Selection Committee. “Given his international prominence, Dr. Min will attract high-quality research papers from around the world and establish JCCT as the journal for cardiovascular CT,” Shaw continued.

Min is currently a professor of radiology and of medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, and director of the Dalio Institute of Cardiovascular Imaging at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medicine. The Dalio Institute of Cardiovascular Imaging was created to help prevent and diagnose cardiovascular diseases by using state-of-the-art tools such as CT, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) scans.

A former SCCT president (2011-2012), Min is also the 2017 recipient of the SCCT Gold Medal Award and fellow of SCCT. Min is an expert in cardiovascular imaging. He specializes in the diagnosis of coronary heart disease with multi-detector CT angiography, and the identification of novel clinical risk factors that place individuals at higher risk for the development of coronary heart disease. He has led numerous multi-center international clinical trials and has published over 250 papers on cardiovascular CT and coronary artery disease.

Min is also a member of the editorial board of ITN's sister cardiology publication Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology.

Executive Editor Todd C. Villines, M.D., FSCCT, is the current president of SCCT and director of cardiovascular CT and cardiovascular research at the Walter Reed National Medical Center, Bethesda, Md., and a professor of medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, College of Medicine, Bethesda. He serves as chair of the American College of Cardiology’s Imaging Council.

Co-executive editor Gudrun Feuchtner, M.D., is the associate professor of radiology and vice-chair of the Department of Radiology at Medical University of Innsbruck in Innsbruck, Austria.
