April 27, 2018 — The U.S. Navy hospital ship USNS Mercy took part in a mass casualty drill April 23, 2018, during which the crew simulated computed tomography (CT) scans. Mercy is deployed in support of Pacific Partnership (PP) 2018, whose mission is to:

  • Work collectively with host and partner nations to enhance regional interoperability and disaster response capabilities;
  • Increase stability and security in the region; and
  • Foster new and enduring friendships across the Indo-Pacific region.

The Navy released several photos taken during the exercise, which can be viewed below.

Prior to the drill, in late March, the crew of USNS Mercy gave a tour of the ship to representatives of the government of Yap, an island in the Federated States of Micronesia. Those images can also be viewed below.
