New partnership with Pieces Technology helps clients improve the quality and decrease the cost of patient care with artificial intelligence

NTT DATA Partners With Pieces Technologies on Artificial Intelligence

January 23, 2018 – NTT DATA Services announced it has partnered with Pieces Technologies for clinical artificial intelligence (AI), to help clients improve the quality and decrease the cost of patient care with natural language and AI-based solutions.

NTT DATA Services will integrate the Pieces Decision Sciences (DS) software into its comprehensive portfolio that includes data integration services, analytics capabilities, cloud services and transformation consulting. The expanded services will enhance clients’ ability to meet the triple aim of healthcare: improving the quality of patient care and overall population health while lowering costs.

The cloud-based Pieces DS platform applies advanced technologies, including natural language processing (NLP), to power key algorithms throughout the patient’s journey in real time. Fully integrated with electronic medical records, the software leverages predictive modeling, clinical NLP, machine learning and AI directly at the point of care to aid real-time decision making. This enables hospitals and health systems to lower readmissions and avoidable hospitalizations, reduce excess length of stay, minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections, and decrease complications from sepsis and inpatient deterioration.

Since 2016, the Pieces DS software has proven to identify at-risk patients and prevent healthcare-associated infections for Pieces clients, according to the company, resulting in:

  • Up to 20 percent reduction in length of stay;
  • Up to 26 percent reduction in readmissions; and
  • Up to 15 percent reduction in sepsis mortality
