Solutions also help improve image analysis and sharing capabilities

Nine U.S. Health Systems Choose Nuance to Improve Radiology Reporting

August 30, 2017 — Nuance Communications Inc. announced that nine U.S. healthcare organizations have recently chosen Nuance solutions to replace incumbent radiology solutions to facilitate more effective collaboration and deliver more complete, timely and higher-quality radiology reporting. In addition to reporting, Nuance’s solutions feature image exchange, workflow orchestration and advanced analytics capabilities that allow physicians to analyze reports and mine data to gain new insights and make decisions more efficiently.

The healthcare organizations that recently switched to Nuance solutions include:

  • Capital Health (Pennington, N.J.);
  • City of Hope (Duarte, Calif.);
  • Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (Monterey, Calif.);
  • Desert Radiology (Las Vegas);
  • LRGHealthcare (Laconia, N.H.);
  • Medical University of South Carolina (Charleston, S.C.);
  • Northeast Georgia Health System (Gainesville, Ga.);
  • Orion/Tower Imaging (Florida); and
  • Tennova Healthcare (Knoxville, Tenn.).

Coordinated Care Health Network (CCHN), Oklahoma’s largest health information exchange (HIE) and a Nuance partner, is another example of how Nuance cloud-based technology can drive patient, clinical and economic outcomes. CCHN sought to disrupt the current HIE industry by providing its 150 subscribing members with more than just the ability to exchange data/images – they wanted to improve awareness across different care locations. With Nuance, clinicians can obtain greater insights into patients’ imaging history, automatically serve up timely, patient-specific information through artificial intelligence (AI) innovation, to make more appropriate clinical decisions. With Nuance PowerShare at the foundation, organizations in the CCHN HIE are now realizing up to 80 percent savings over previous costs for sharing data across the HIE, while significantly improving care decisions, workflow and productivity, according to the company.

“At a time when there is mounting industry pressure to prove value and increase efficiency, Nuance’s suite of solutions enables our radiologists to simultaneously enhance patient care, manage their workload and meet documentation requirements. In fact, we chose Nuance PowerShare because of its proven track record to immediately deliver time and value back to our clinicians,” said Brian Yeaman, M.D., chief executive and co-founder of CCHN. “Nuance’s medical imaging solutions have helped us rewrite the playbook on information sharing among member organizations. The sophisticated integration capabilities and practical ease-of-use features allow our providers to devote more time to their primary mission – patient care.”
