Room-based and Portable Digital X-ray Systems

Franciscan Health signed a three-year, sole-source agreement with Carestream Health for room-based and portable digital radiography systems that includes Carestream’s DRX-Evolution Plus and DRX-Ascend room-based systems as well as its DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray system. The group also can purchase Carestream’s DRX-Excel Plus radiography/fluoroscopy system and DRX detectors as part of a dual-source agreement.

Fourteen Franciscan Health hospitals in Illinois and Indiana are part of the agreement for radiology equipment. “Franciscan Alliance decided to standardize to achieve greater consistency throughout the organization. Imaging directors from our hospitals participated in a thorough evaluation of systems from several vendors and unanimously choose Carestream for room-based and portable digital radiography,” said Nancy Sayler, Imaging Director, Franciscan Health Crawfordsville (Crawfordsville, Ind.).

“Carestream’s comprehensive family of DR systems and detectors allows us to cost effectively upgrade our capabilities by either adding a DR detector to an existing room or portable system or by purchasing new imaging systems. And Carestream offers the right detector or system to address specific imaging needs within each of our facilities, whether it’s the emergency department, radiology department or outpatient imaging center,” she explained.

A fully automated Carestream DRX-Evolution Plus system enables technologists to capture cross-table, spine, abdomen, long-length, scoliosis and other types of X-ray images. A motorized overhead tube automatically tracks detector movement for fast source-to-detector alignment, which reduces fatigue and repetitive stress injuries for technologists. A remote control lines up the X-ray tube to either Bucky to further streamline the imaging process.

The Carestream DRX-Ascend offers analog or digital imaging, floor-mount or ceiling-mount tube, a range of table options, an optional wireless DRX detector and an optional autotracking feature. And the Carestream DRX-Excel Plus System delivers the flexibility to capture high-quality general radiography and fluoroscopy exams in one compact system. It delivers accelerated workflow, high-resolution images and a wide range of exams and is easy to operate.

Carestream DRX detectors are also part of the agreement. “We were extremely impressed with the design of the DRX Plus detectors. They deliver excellent image quality, are lightweight and can be shared between portable and room-based imaging systems for enhanced utilization,” Sayler adds. “These detectors also meet the highest ISO standard for liquid ingress, which is an important advantage.”

The DRX-Revolution is widely recognized for its innovative design that includes a wireless detector, fully automatic collapsible column, exceptional maneuverability, powerful dual motor drive and a long tubehead reach that allows technologists to capture excellent images even in crowded conditions.
