Registration open for Breakthrough Leadership series that maximizes radiologists’ influence and impact in the business of healthcare

Radiology Leadership Institute Launches Online Program Teaching Essential Business Skills

April 25, 2017 — Registration is open for a new online program from the Radiology Leadership Institute (RLI), designed to help launch radiologists confidently into new leadership roles equipped with essential business skills.

The program, titled “RLI Breakthrough Leadership: Maximizing Your Influence and Impact,” is a 12-week online program designed specifically for radiologists assuming their first substantial leadership role or for those who are ready for career advancement.

“The RLI recognizes that increasing the business savvy of new radiologist leaders is essential to positively impact patient-centered care,” said Geoffrey D. Rubin, M.D., MBA, FACR, director of the RLI Breakthrough Leadership series. “It’s only natural that radiologists look for management and leadership training, as they adjust to the pressures of improving the quality of health care to influence change,” he added.

“The RLI program focuses on the essentials: understanding and managing costs, leading and influencing others, and enabling engagement and efficiency in your practice and larger health system,” said Rubin.

The RLI Breakthrough Leadership program, which will run from Oct. 3, 2017, through May 8, 2018, covers three modules.

  • The Hospital Boardroom (organizational structure, performance measures, interpreting financial statements);
  • Stewarding the Department (design and accountability, building and supporting effective teams); and
  • Influencing Change at the Hospital Level (business planning, financial forecasting and conflicts, integrity and the legal department)

The program combines the best of live “virtual” class sessions with self-paced weeks set aside for deeper discovery of supplemental content — and participants will join in a faculty-led discussion board and virtual class sessions. Sessions are led by a team of experts. Participants can register and view the program overview and preliminary schedule on the RLI website.
