Collection of 12 modules offers practical information for the interventional suite with more than 300 high-quality clinical images

April 25, 2016 — The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has launched Vascular Interventional Essentials, a new educational program that explores the image-guided procedures of interventional radiology. The 12-module online series provides radiologic technologists with the practical information needed for the interventional suite.

The comprehensive collection includes fundamental information on equipment and instrumentation, patient care, venous access sites and procedures and interventional pharmacology. The advanced modules cover dialysis management as well as neurological, thoracic and abdominal procedures. The series contains more than 300 high-quality interventional clinical images.

“The value of this course is its breadth and detail,” said ASRT Director of Education Craig St. George, B.S., R.T.(R)(VI). “Educators will find it a powerful introduction to the topic for their students, and individual learners will come away with a new appreciation of this rapidly growing specialty in the radiologic sciences. Facility managers will appreciate its capacity to jump start the training of staff technologists moving into this area.”

Upon completion, the 12-module series is worth 20 continuing education credits. Modules 1-3 are worth 6.75 Category A credits and modules 4-12 are worth 13.25 Category A+ credits. Radiologic technologists who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate from the ASRT recognizing their achievement.

An institutional, non-CE credit version is also available on CD and is licensed for unlimited use. The institutional product contains a test bank with answer key, transcripts, printable student certificates, relevant knowledge checks, clear learning objectives and an image library containing more than 85 illustrations.
